Experienced, Professional & Approachable

Alistair

Alistair Brooke — Owner & Lead Instructor

Alistair Brooke is the owner and lead instructor at Scotland’s Outdoor Centre, with more than 30 years of experience delivering outdoor activities and mobile events throughout Scotland.

Alistair is a Scottish Clay Target Association (SCTA) qualified Safety Officer and Coach and is also a Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD).

With extensive experience in clay pigeon shooting and game shooting, Alistair has delivered shooting experiences for everyone from complete beginners and family groups to corporate clients, weddings and large-scale events involving thousands of guests.

A large part of his work involves taking clay pigeon shooting directly to castles, luxury hotels, private estates and exclusive-use properties throughout Scotland.

His approach combines professional safety management with friendly, individual instruction, helping first-time shooters feel comfortable and giving every guest the best possible opportunity to enjoy the experience and break their first clay.

Our Approach to Instruction

The instructors are at the heart of every Scotland’s Outdoor Centre experience.

Whether we are providing private clay pigeon shooting for a small group at a Scottish castle or managing activities for a large corporate event, our aim is always the same – to provide professional instruction while making the experience relaxed, enjoyable and memorable.

Many of the guests we work with have never tried clay pigeon shooting, archery, axe throwing or Highland Games before.

Our instructors understand this and take the time to explain each activity clearly, helping beginners build confidence while ensuring experienced participants are challenged and entertained.

Experienced Clay Pigeon Shooting Instruction

Clay pigeon shooting is one of our specialist activities.

Our shooting instructors provide guests with a full safety briefing before offering individual instruction throughout the experience.

We work with complete beginners through to experienced shots and have a selection of 12, 20 and 28 bore shotguns available to help us match equipment to the individual participant.

For us, one of the most satisfying parts of the job is seeing someone who has never handled a shotgun before break their first clay.

Safety Comes First

Professional supervision and safety are fundamental to every event we operate.

Our instructors are responsible not only for looking after participants but also for ensuring each activity area is properly managed throughout the event.

For mobile clay pigeon shooting, this begins long before the first guest arrives.

Our team prepares and transports the equipment, establishes the shooting area, sets up and tests the traps and ensures the activity can be operated safely before shooting begins.

During the experience, our instructors maintain control of the shooting line and provide continual supervision and instruction.

More Than Shooting Instructors

Our team also delivers Scotland’s Outdoor Centre’s wider range of mobile activities, including:

  • Archery

  • Axe Throwing

  • Highland Games

  • Air Rifle Shooting

  • Simulated Game Shooting

  • Corporate Team Challenges

For larger events, multiple instructors can be deployed to operate individual activity stations, allowing groups to rotate between different experiences.

This means Scotland’s Outdoor Centre can provide one professional team to manage a complete outdoor activity programme at your venue.

Working at Scotland’s Leading Venues

Our instructors regularly work at castles, luxury hotels, private estates, wedding venues and exclusive-use properties throughout Scotland.

Working within these environments requires more than simply knowing how to run an activity.

Our team understands the importance of working professionally alongside venue staff, respecting the property and grounds, arriving prepared and ensuring guests receive the standard of experience expected from a premium venue.

Friendly, Personal Instruction

Professional doesn't have to mean formal.

We want guests to relax, enjoy themselves and have some fun.

Our instructors provide encouragement throughout the experience and adapt their approach to the individual – whether that's someone nervous about firing their first shot or an experienced shooter looking for a little friendly competition.

It is an approach that regularly receives excellent feedback from our guests.

“Alistair was a really knowledgeable and helpful instructor. Our whole group had so much fun and we were all able to hit the clay pigeons thanks to his guidance!”
